SUMMARY:ACPA2GO: Data to Dialogue: Humanizing Retention Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Data to Dialogue: Humanizing Retention Strategies\n17 September 2026 // 3:00PM – 4:00PM ET\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Institutions of higher education have long relied on quantitative data such as GPA\, retention rates\, and credit accumulation to explain why students persist\, transfer\, or withdraw. While valuable\, these numbers often flatten the student experience\, overlooking the complex personal\, social\, and cultural dimensions that shape persistence. This session explores how integrating qualitative approaches such as narrative inquiry\, focus groups\, and student storytelling provides a more holistic picture of student success and attrition. By examining case studies and examples\, participants will see how student voices illuminate gaps in institutional support and challenge assumptions hidden in traditional metrics. Attendees will leave with concrete strategies for designing mixed-method retention studies\, framing student narratives as actionable data\, and using these insights to inform equity-driven policies and practices. Ultimately\, the session argues that to truly support retention\, higher education must move beyond metrics and embrace the humanity behind the numbers. \n \n Register Now\n \n \n \n \n \n \nACPA Individual Member – $10\nACPA International Member – $5\nNon-Member – $20\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presented by:\n\nAshley L. SUMMARY:ACPA2GO: Utilizing a Critical Theory of Love In Our Social Justice Work
DESCRIPTION:Utilizing a Critical Theory of Love In Our Social Justice Work\n23 September 2026 // 2:00PM – 3:00PM ET\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n What would it mean to center love—not as sentiment\, but as strategy—in our justice work? Grounded in Black liberation theology and Black feminist thought\, this session explores how Western constructs of love uphold oppression and limit our capacity for transformation. Participants will engage a Critical Theory of Love framework to interrogate how we’ve been socialized by love\, and how we might reclaim it as a tool for healing\, accountability\, and liberation in educational and social justice practice. \n \n Register Now\n \n \n \n \n \n \nACPA Individual Member – $10\nACPA International Member – $5\nNon-Member – $20\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presented by:\n\nDurryle BrooksLove & Justice Consulting\n\n \n \n \n \n \n PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES\n\nSocial Justice and Inclusion (SJI)Values\, Philosophy\, and History (VPH)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n In order to qualify for member rates for an ACPA2GO webinar\, membership with ACPA must be valid through the scheduled webinar date. When we think about facilitation\, we know the right facilitator can make all the difference. You know this to be true if you remember the last bad facilitator you had. So\, we have created content to help you deliver the best for your audience. First\, as your guides\, we have scoured through Mike’s Ph.D. research and are sharing the top 12 things participants need from facilitators and the results are fascinating! Join us if you want to practice your facilitative skills\, increase your audience’s evaluations score on your work\, learn how to flex your style to meet your audience\, figure out how to make your work more interactive using the 70/30 rule\, practice your pace and pitch\, and learn where facilitators can often go wrong. Finally\, we will teach you how to read your audience when they make a face that stresses you out. \nAs we share\, you never went to camp to watch videos about canoeing\, horseback riding\, and the ropes course.
