ACPA-College Student Educators International through its Task Force on Public Policy and Governmental Affairs is providing this Policy Alert in regards to the implementation of the new Title IX regulations in the United States.
ACPA encourages our members working within U.S. higher education institutions to be aware of the August 1, 2024 deadline for the implementation of the new Title IX regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education on April 19, 2024.
In light of several U.S. District court decisions throughout the country, injunctions are in place suspending the implementation of the new regulations in at least 26 States. In addition, a recent court decision in Kansas, has expanded the injunction beyond just States, but also to specific higher education institutions in States not covered by other injunctions.
We encourage our members to engage with their institutional Title IX and Equal Opportunity offices and General Counsel to learn more about how their specific institution is being affected by these injunctions.
