Growing Knowledge Series: Managing an Occupational Hazard

Join Dr. Leah Ward, Director of the Women’s Center in the Office Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Dayton, as she discusses her 2024 dissertation, “Managing an Occupational Hazard: A Narrative Analysis of Secondary Traumatic Stress in Higher Education Student Affairs Professionals Amidst the Great Resignation.” During the webinar, participants will have an opportunity to learn about the key findings from the study on the retention of professionals in cultural centers, student organization advising, and academic advising, particularly why those professionals remain in the field. Dr. Ward will provide space to examine how systemic issues, emotional labor, and a need for community all play a critical role in why professionals choose to stay in the field.
