The ACPA Commission for Assessment and Evaluation (CAE) is currently recruiting assessment-minded professionals to serve on our Directorate Board!

This year, we have 6 Directorate positions open beginning with the 2025 ACPA Convention (elected) and 1 Chair Position for the Student Affairs Assessment Institute (appointed).

HOW DO THE DIRECTORATE BOARD ELECTIONS WORK?

  • With the exception of the Student Affairs Assessment Institute Chair, all positions are elected by current CAE members.
  • Submit the nomination form by November 4th, 2024.
  • Between November 18th-22nd, all CAE members are invited to vote on candidates to the Directorate Board via an email sent from ACPA.
  • The six top candidates receive spots on the Directorate Board. Specific roles are assigned after election based on member expertise and interest.

HOW IS THE STUDENT AFFAIRS ASSESSMENT INSTITUTE CHAIR POSITION POSITION APPOINTED? 

  • Note that this person must commit to being able to attend the 2026 Student Affairs Assessment Institute in Chicago, 6/23/26-6/26/26. Hotel and registration are paid for by ACPA.
  • Submit the nomination form and a resume by November 4th, 2024.
  • The SAAI Chair will be appointed by the CAE Chair. Criteria include experience with faculty, event planning, and student affairs assessment expertise.

CAE DIRECTORATE BOARD TIMELINE

  • October 7th – November 4th, 2024: CAE Nomination Form Open
  • November 18th – 22nd, 2024: Elections for elected positions
  • December 2nd, 2024: Election results shared with candidates
  • Week of January 13th, 2025: New Member Orientation

WHICH POSITIONS ARE OPEN?

Note: Positions are assigned after you join the Directorate Board. We are trying a new system this year and hope this feels less overwhelming. If you only want a particular position, please let us know in your nomination form.

  • Student Affairs Assessment Institute Chair (appointed): Works with ACP to develop all aspects of the SAAI, including faculty selection, curriculum development, keynote selection, conference programming, and onsite logistics.
  • Awards Manager: Advances CAE awards program through identifying award topics, soliciting nominations, selecting award winners, and coordinating recognition of winners.
  • Webinar Manager: Coordinates with ACPA staff to provide webinars at minimum once per semester (2 to 4 per year), including identifying webinar topics, selecting presenters, and coordinating on webinar logistics.
  • Newsletter Manager: Maintains roster of CAE members and coordinates distribution of monthly newsletter.
  • Mentorship Program Manager: Leads administration of mentorship program, including recruiting mentors and mentees, matching mentors/mentees, conducting orientation for participants, and developing mentorship program curriculum.
  • Convention Programs Manager: Leads selection and recognition of endorsed programs at ACPA convention, including outreach to presenters. Develops a guide to help attendees find assessment-related content at Convention.
  • Elections Manager: Leads election process for DB, including outreach for nominations, coordinating with ACPA IO for elections, and orientation for new members.

Q: What is the term length? 

A: Three years

Q: I’m not an ACPA member. Can I still apply? 

A: Yes! You do not have to be an ACPA to apply for the Directorate Board. If you are elected/appointed to the Directorate Board, you will be expected to purchase a membership (if you don’t already have one) within two months.

Q: May graduate students serve on the Directorate Board? 

A: Yes! We welcome folks at all stages of their careers who are ready to have a leadership role in student affairs assessment.

Q: I would like to join the CAE Directorate Board, but I am not sure which position makes sense for me.

A: Please apply! The CAE leadership team will work with you to find a good fit.

Q: Do I have to attend ACPA Convention to be on the Directorate Board? 

A: No – only the Chair and Chair Elect of the CAE Directorate Board are required to attend Convention.
