ACPA-College Student Educators International is committed to advancing our mission and serving the communities in which we operate without engaging in global or domestic politics. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to maintaining a neutral and non-partisan stance in all our activities, including our communications, advocacy, and public policy efforts.
We recognize the importance of engaging with a wide range of higher education practitioners, scholars, and communities across the political and ideological spectrum. Our goal is to promote understanding, education, and collaboration on the issues that matter most to our mission, without favoring or supporting any political party, ideology, or candidate.
Key Principles of Our Non-Partisan Commitment:
Educational Outreach
Our communications and outreach efforts are designed to inform and educate our members, and in some cases the public and policymakers, about key issues affecting higher education or college students, without promoting any political or party view. We encourage informed decision-making and civic participation, but our resources are not used to endorse specific political views.
Guidance and Support for Members, not Advice or Counsel
Based on research and expertise developed through practice and scholarship, we seek to provide guidance and considerations to our members and the higher education community, but are not situated to offer advice or counsel on legal matters. We encourage members to engage with their institutional or organizational legal counsel for specific guidance tailored to their needs.
Respect for Varying Perspectives
We value the spectrum of opinions, beliefs, and experiences in our community and throughout the field of higher education and student affairs. Our programs and initiatives aim to foster collaboration, respect, and understanding among individuals with varying perspectives, irrespective of political affiliation and identities.
Open Involvement Opportunities for All Members
We are committed to ensuring that all members of our community have equal access to opportunities for involvement in our programs, initiatives, and decision-making processes. Participation in our organization is open to individuals from all backgrounds and political beliefs employed at or in support of institutions of higher education, and we encourage active engagement from everyone who shares our mission, values, and goals.
Neutrality in Political Campaigns
We do not support or oppose any political party or candidate for public office in the United States or abroad. We do not engage in political campaign activities or contribute to any candidate or political party beyond encouraging participation in voting opportunities.
Advocacy and Public Policy Efforts
While we may engage in policy discussions or advocate for specific issues relevant to our purposes, mission, and values, our stance is based on evidence, research, and the needs of our membership and the higher education community, rather than any partisan political agenda.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are bound by legal restrictions that prohibit partisan political activities, and we take these responsibilities seriously. Our focus remains on carrying out our educational and aspirational work and furthering our mission in a way that is inclusive, respectful, and non-partisan.
