The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States
A national, nonprofit organization which affirms that sexuality is a natural and healthy part of living. Incorporated in 1964, SIECUS develops, collects, and disseminates information, promotes comprehensive education about sexuality, and advocates the right of individuals to make responsible sexual choices.

Serving the Needs of Transgender College Students, Brett Beemyn, Ohio State University. Journal of Gay and Lesbian Issues in Education, Volume 1, No. 1 (Fall, 2003) ABSTRACT: Transgendered youth have become more visible in the last decade but remain one of the most underserved populations on college campuses and have largely been ignored in the higher education literature. To provide a context for understanding the experiences of gender variant students, this article provides a brief history of transgenderism before discussing the handful of published narratives by transgendered youth. It concludes with recommendations for educators seeking to improve the campus climate for people of all genders.
